70th Birthday Bash!

70 years old and counting!

Isn't that cool?  My 70th birthday logo!  I think the resemblance is uncanny, myself.

The highlight of the 2011 summer for me was the birthday party given for me (at my house) by a batch of my dear friends here in Asheville.  Most of my local friends attended (some of whom actually know each other) AND they made arrangements for Jonathan to be here for a couple of days from Fort Lauderdale.  Little Miss Daisy stayed at home with her Mama, sniff, but having Jonathan here was a Big Treat.

In addition to creating my 70th logo, "Prince" Fred Barkley was the on-site grill man. And, in addition to tons of eats, there was also, natch, a birthday cake.  Thankfully it had only 7 candles, one for each decade, as I was already having significant shortness of breath.

And wouldn't you know it, the very next day all my hair (such as I had) fell out.  Talk about timing.

Anyhow, I've made it to 70, I've been acknowledged by my family and friends, and I have pictures to show for it.  Thanks to Everyone Who Made This Possible, and I'll do my best to be around for another "big" birthday.  75, maybe??

These are the gals who gave me the party:        Back row:  Jane Hatley, Carol Barkey, Barb Kish, Me;  Front row:  Catherine Ball, Myra Ball (no relation to Catherine, but they do like each other.)

And here are some others of the motley crew who attended:
Lynn Dietrich laughing it up with Peggy Millin, my beloved writing teacher (and the creator of daily emailed Peggy's Prompts, which form the catalyst for many, if not most, of my blog postings.  So thank you, Peggy.

And, from left to right:  Liz Prichard, Sue Stigleman and Jeanette Reid.  Sue and Jeanette are two of my regular writing buddies.

Carol, Jane, and Barb again.  Barb took me on my excellent hot air balloon adventure last year.
That's all, folks!!!!       Thanks for watching. (There are a bunch more photos, but you should always leave 'em wanting more, so they say.)

PS:  Thanks to Catherine Ball for most of the photos.
